My favourite subject – Carbohydrates! I hear it all the time, “Carbs make you fat but Freelee is TOO skinny!” Contradiction anyone?
CARBS, CARBS, CARBS! They are your friend! You loooove them and they looove you…naturally. The more you eat the better you feel, the leaner you can become. One of the BIG reasons you aren’t getting the weight loss results you desire is not because you are eating TOO many calories or TOO many carbohydrates, but ironically because you aren’t eating ENOUGH carbs. Restricting calories is not the answer to long term health,happiness and leaness, but eating enough of the right calories is.
So what are carbs? Well firstly I will tell you what ISN’T simply Carbs (but has been incorrectly labelled so) –> Cakes, donuts, pizza, burgers, chocolates, chips, biscuits… are more accurately FAT foods, meaning they get the majority of their calories from fat not carbs. So why call a food a carb when it’s not technically a carb? o_O That makes me kinda pissed to be honest. :-/ Humans may ADD carbs to fat foods to make them tasty (because fat is bland and tasteless) but that doesn’t make the food a ‘bad carb or a good carb’. Do you really think the carbohydrate component of the food is making you fat and not the fat component? How about we stop unjustly exploiting and victimising carbohydrates? :-O The poor babies. I hear it ALL the time. “Oh I can’t eat carbs they make me fat”. Nooooo you are eating high fat foods. Essentially you are eating the fat off an animals back/belly/butt/thighs/breast and or refined 100% fat from OILS and then wondering why you aren’t a skinny minnie or a slim jim…
The major reason I’m a lean bean today is, not just because I eat 97% of my calories from fruit but because I eat 80% or more of my calories from CARBS. You don’t have to be a big fruit muncher like me to get lean but you DO have to be a big carb-muncher, period. You also have to be patient, you didn’t become a chubby monkey overnight so shifting the weight will naturally take time. What is a Carb food? Foods like fruit, rice, gluten-free pasta, potatoes, corn and certain other grains are high-carb foods. These foods are not making people fat or else the cultures who have the highest carbohydrate intake would be the fattest in the World (instead of the leanest).
Keep in mind what you put ON or beside the carb like fatty, oily, creamy sauces is what makes you fat, not the carb itself. Due to the brilliant design of mother nature it’s physically impossible to eat the amount of carbohydrates that are required to make people overweight. The fibre, water and sugar contained within the carb all lead to fullness and satiation long before that can occur. Remember you (and everyone else) has a sweet tooth for a reason! We are HIGH CARB creatures who need to honour our sweet tooth rather than SUPPRESS it. Every one of your trillions of cells thrives on glucose/carbohydrates. Open any good physiology text book and it will tell you the same thing.
So, if you truly want to get off that freakin’ frustrating diet merry -go-round (like I was riding for years) then make it EASY on yourself. Listen to the people who are consistently lean for years, the ones who NEVER restrict calories, who perform well in cardiovascular-challenging exercise and are 100% stimulant and drug-free. Mother nature wanted you to eat as much as you desire at every meal, and be lean, fit and healthy. Remember if carbs or fruit made us fat then I would be OBESE with my intake rather than 40lbs slimmer than when I was restricting my carbs and calories. Judge by RESULTS not THEORY.
