Freelee reviews Stephanie Buttermore's 5000 calorie diet

Freelee likes that Stephanie Buttermore promotes an ‘all in’ calorie approach. She’s never heard of any other Youtuber promoting this (besides herself) until now. As a lot of you know Freelee has been promoting the 2500 calorie figure for about a decade now and also the unlimited ‘all in’ calorie approach for years under the Raw till 4 or High Carb Vegan umbrella. Obviously where Stephanie and Freelee differ considerably of course is that Stephanie recommends eating anything at all in her approach even if it’s not really food. By the way hang around till the end of the video where Freelee gives Stephanie her 3 best tips to curb her extreme hunger.

So who is Stephanie Buttermore? Freelee has always been intrigued with peoples ethnicity and found out Stephanie is half Thai, half Canadian which would explain that beautiful hair and smile from Thailand; the land of smiles. She is 29 years old (so 10 years younger than Freelee) and around the same height as Freelee at 5’5. She is an ovarian cancer research scientist who holds a PHD in pathology and cell biology.

So like Freelee, Stephanie has been involved in body sculpting comps, extreme dieting and the gym rat lifestyle. For those of you who don’t know in Freelee's 20’s she ran her own successful personal training business for around 5 years and gained certification in nutrition, weight management, advanced aerobic conditioning and also advanced weight training from FIA (Fitness Institute of Australia). Freelee also dated a former Mr Australia Body builder. She talks about it in her new book: My naked lunchbox. So in this way Stephanie and Freelee have had a very similar dieting past.

Freelee is 100% supportive of honouring ones hunger cues (while eating under the high carb plant foods umbrella). Most of you know that. As Freelee always says it is so so important for healing. Calorie restriction for weight loss and metabolic healing DOES NOT WORK. Reverse dieting DOES NOT WORK. IT just leads you back to dieting and then you are there forever. YOU MUST BE FULLY SATISFIED AFTER EVERY MEAL for long term health and leanness.

Stephanie is clearly glucose and water depleted in the left picture where she is in a state of semi-starvation. On the right she started eating again and is naturally gaining glucose storage and water weight. Freelee speaks all about this in her Keto Diet debunked video which you can check out here.

So Stephanie has spoken about the hormones Leptin and Ghrelin in regards to her extreme hunger. Both of these hormones respond to how well fed you are. Leptin is a hormone involved in regulating our appetite, how much food we do actually eat and how much we weigh. Leptin basically signals to us to stop eating and glucose is obviously very important in this process. Ghrelin “the hunger hormone” on the other hand is a hormone produced in the stomach and released into the blood which helps stimulate hunger and makes us more likely to choose high calorie foods over low calorie foods. Not surprisingly at all there is science showing a high carbohydrate diet has an inhibitory effect on Ghrelin levels

In regards to Stephanie's comments about having a puffy face and body. If you take a look at what kind of foods Stephanie was/is going ‘all in’ on (and Freelee is not talking about her 10,000 calorie challenges but even just recently) then you can easily understand why her face was sweating and puffy. High fat, high sodium animal product rich foods are the cause. It’s mostly fluid retention from toxic byproducts and excess sodium. This is why increasing potassium intake is really powerful in decreasing circulating sodium in the body because it helps your body flush the excess water weight. Hello bananas right?? 98% of Americans (and westerners) for instance are potassium deficient due to not enough plant foods, particularly fruit. This is another major reason Freelee is lean long term because potassium is crucial to optimal function of every one of the trillions of cells in our body.

Here are 3 things Freelee recommends Stephanie does straight away to curb her extreme hunger:

  • Increase her potassium intake to at least meet the minimum RDI of 4500mgs, this will aid the sodium potassium balance to help eliminate Stephanie's fluid retention issues and oedema. Plant foods are the best and safest source of potassium.
  • Increase her daily carbohydrate quota to 70% or more of cals from carbohydrates, this will assist her hunger by increasing circulating glucose which is the brain and bodies number one fuel source which simultaneously helps increase leptin release and decreases grehlin levels.
  • Significantly increase her fibre intake which in turn will increase satiety. Stephanie can do this by instantly removing all calories that are devoid of fibre. And they are of course - animal products.They are naturally of no nutritional benefit to the human frugivore. Remember this; there is nothing found in animal products that is essential to human health which isn’t already found in plant foods but there are PLENTY of disease-causing components that you don't want.

Stephanie will not be able to satiate her hunger or maintain a healthy weight eating all she cares for if she is not eating the right foods. She will have to continue calorie restricting for the rest of her life. If she jumps on a high carb vegan lifestyle, she will, like myself, Alicia and many other women - begin to  experience a level of satiation that she didn’t know was possible. Like I’ve said many time before I find it hard to even gain weight now.

Gabi Demartino's VS Model Keto Diet Debunked By Freelee The Banana Girl

Gabi Demartini posted a low carb VS model diet and claimed to lose 20lbs on it. Freelee responds and debunks the Keto Diet and Low Carb Diets like the Paleo Diet. Here is her video "I tried the VS Model Diet for a month and this is what happened:

So today’s video is on Gabi Demartini. For those of you who dont know Gabi is a social media influencer and singer. She is 24 which makes her two months older than Romee and 15 years younger than Freelee The Banana girl. Gabi has over 3 million subscribers on her YouTube channel “Fancy Vlogs By Gab” and over 9 million on her shared channel with her sister Niki. On instagram she has over 4 million followers. She is estimated to be “worth” 1.5 million USD and currently lives in LA (or just moved). After standing next to her Freelee would say she is about 5ft or less and weighs around 48kg.

As many of you know Gabi went plant-based from Freelee Banana Girl's influence a number of years back but didn’t learn to eat enough carbohydrates or calories in general or about the ethics of veganism so she went back to eating animal bits and pieces. In 2016 Freelee hung out with Gabi and they got on great, Freelee liked her sassy personality. She was one ‘influencer’ who would always comment on Freelee's videos and chat on twitter. She was never ‘too good’ and that stood out to Freelee. 

So what we know about Gabi is that she claims to have hashimotos disease. A quick break down on the common understanding of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Hashimotos is an auto immune disorder named after a Japanese surgeon who discovered the condition in 1912. So the mainstream belief around hashimotos thyroiditis is that an individuals immune system is attacking their own thyroid gland. Freelee originally accepted this explanation but later found it to be counterintuitive when considering the body’s evolutionary wisdom and self-preservation; to be attacking itself just didn’t add up. Freelee is now more inclined to believe it is the body trying to heal the thyroid gland that has been largely compromised through incorrect diet and lifestyle choices and possible genetic factors. A simplex explanation is that pathogens, heavy metals and other toxins can be ‘held up’ within the thyroid gland so the body is constantly trying to eradicate these pathogens and heal the damaged organ. 

Hashimoto’s often results in hypothyroidism (which is basically an under active thyroid). Freelee personally had hypothyroidism before she went vegan and at one stage was even taking thyroid accelerating medication. This was diet and lifestyle related but she was also predisposed to this condition because her mum had a serious immune system issue which resulted in eczema which she now keeps under control on a high carb vegan lifestyle. So here is the reason The Keto Diet appears to ‘work’ for Gabi. When she started drastically restricting her carbohydrate intake Cutting out the fruit, bread, potatoes, rice, pasta then her body was forced to use up it’s stored glucose in her liver and muscles (which is called glycogen) to replace the lack of carbohydrates she was eating. The body is so cool that it literally has a back up of instantly usable sugar to help keep you alive and actually healthy. And for every 1 gram of glucose stored around 3 grams of healthy hydration water are also stored in the body. This healthy hydration was then released once Gabi’s body used up her glucose reserves. When all Gabi’s glucose is used up then her body also stops storing the associated water weight. So the average persons body stores around 300 grams of glucose so with the addition of that water Gab lost around 2.2 lbs of weight on the scales within a few days. Keep in mind this is glucose and water weight.

During this time due to an obvious lack of calories and in particular carbohydrates, Gabi would have felt weak and very hungry hence why she developed a strong caffeine dependency which is absolutely counterproductive for her Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

The next stage of the keto diet is Gabi’s body starts burning it’s non-preferred back up fuel source - fat which then leads to an influx of ketones in the blood. And you might be like wow so this is awesome! I can just stop eating carbs and start burning all this fat on my body and I’ll be a skinny minny! NO. It’s definitely not that simple... These ketones also cause a strong diuretic effect on Gabi’s kidneys causing them to release more water weight or hydration.

So at this point Gabi’s body has fallen into a metabolic state of Ketosis. Basically a state of sickness. Might sound dramatic but it’s true. Gabi’s bodily functions that start to slow right down in order for the brain and body to conserve energy (as there is little to no carbohydrate coming in). In a state of Ketosis Gabi starts to lose her appetite because ketones in the blood cause nausea, fatigue and low appetite because she is quite simply, sick. But this lack of appetite will always be overridden by the brains survival instinct. Now Gabi starts reaching for the caffeine and the sweeteners for energy but the brain cannot derive any glucose from these substances so before long she begins ‘binging’ out on the sweet stuff.

Freelee wants Gabi to educate herself so she can be a positive role model to her impressionable audience.

Freelee Reviews What I Eat As A Model // Romee Strijd

In today's video Romee Strijd shows us what she will eat in a day at home. Here is Romee's Model Diet video: Freelee the Banana Girl video analyses some of Romee's typical diet meals that she eats for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Freelee shows Romee's macros and overall calorie intake.

In 2019 Romee Strijd is a Victoria Secret Supermodel who we are all taught to be jealous of in this culture because she fits our cultures definition of “beautiful” but I can’t lie she is an impressive specimen. So Romee was scouted by a modelling agency when she was 13 and now she is 24, yes I’m old enough to be her mum. lol. So she is very tall at 5’11 and weighs around 117lbs or 53kg. About the same weight as me but I’m only 5’5.5. Romee just hit over 1 million subs on her youtube and approaching 6 million followers on her instagram.

Romee's What I Eat As A Model Diet 2019:

8:30 am Breakfast around 400 calories.

11:00 am Snack around 180 calories.

1pm Lunch around 530 calories.

4pm Snack under 100 calories.

8:30pm Dinner around 400 calories.

Total around 1700 calories.

Ok onto the rest of Romee's supermodel breakfast. She adds peanut butter. Peanut butter is a really high source of fat and yes Freelee knows it’s yummy but she also has a thorough understanding of human physiology. Humans are high carb creatures so it’s better to start your day with high carb foods rather than adding high fat if you want high energy levels and a lean body long term. This is part of the reason Romee then reaches for stimulants like coffee and matcha tea throughout the day. By the way where is the coffee or tea?

Freelee agrees that eating breakfast is super important and that’s why it should be the biggest meal of the day. Freelee generally eats 800-1000 calories for break fast and Romee is getting around 400 calories. Freelee recommends a bare minimum of 600 for her.

SNACK (around 180 calories): Freelee points out Romee's claims are simply not true; that combining fruit and high fat foods helps prevent spikes to your blood sugar levels. When you do these sorts of combos often enough you will overwork and exhaust your pancreas. Fruit is a whole food that includes blood sugar regulating fibre so the sugar actually enters the bloodstream at a healthy rate so you get a natural rise and fall. On the contrary when you combine a higher fat food like nuts with a low fat food like strawberries you just make it difficult for insulin to transport the glucose/sugar from the blood stream and into the cell. This intern can cause elevated blood sugar levels. This is not hard to test just use a glucosemeter, obviously if her theory was correct then i would have full blown diabetes after getting most of my calories from massive fruit meals over the past 12 years. but I don’t because it’s simply not true. If you want to see me prove this by using a glucose meter then tell me in the comments and I will plan to do it. We are talking about a Fat metabolism problem here not sugar metabolism.

On the blood sugar front that Freelee forget to mention in the video: Fruit is naturally low on glycemic load and glycemic index because it is a whole food which contains a large proportion of water and fibre so it does NOT  spike blood sugar levels. Of course fruit RAISES blood sugar levels (which is the whole point!) as you have glucose/fructose entering your blood stream and subsequently fuelling you (good!). Romee Strijd is simply not eating enough fruit in a meal/snack to maintain optimal blood sugar levels so her blood sugar drops quickly when she just eats fruit. And as a result she reaches for sub-optimal foods and fattier animal products later on instead of just eating more fruit in that meal/snack. 

LUNCH: The reason Romee has a hard time giving up animal products is due to not eating enough carbohydrates which is the brain and bodies number one fuel source so then we are more likely to reach for calorically-dense cruel and fattening animal products to fill that void. Also she hasn’t educated herself on the ethics behind why she shouldn’t eat animals and their secretions so there is no moral ties there.

Her lunch was about 530 calories.

Snack: There is very little calories in that veggie snack, around 70. She would have been far better off with at least a few pieces of fruit or a big ass smoothie. Freelee is not sure what kind of tea she shows either. 

Dinner: oh Damn is there no one left on youtube not sponsored by hello fresh? yes Freelee actually. Freelee is not convinced that Romee has been dying to try it out their service more like they gave her a very sweet deal to promote them. 

What a shame there is a bunch of solidied bovine secretion here aka cows milk via the cheese and yoghurt. Again Romee doesn’t seem like the type to support such cruelty, imagine she saw the baby cows being ripped away from their mothers after birth so she can have her cheese. Freelee is sure she would give it up immediately. Freelee is sure Romee likes these pre-measured packs so she can track her calories easily. 

Ok so Romee's dinner is about 400 calories and high in fat but Freelee is definitely happy to see some rice and vegetable in there. Freelee is also happy to see that she didn’t eat animals throughout the day although she did have eggs and dairy which has been called liquid meat as it’s just as unhealthy and cruel. Romee please educate yourself on the origin of your food.

Lets say Romee did eat all of the food she presented in this video, the fact is we don’t know if she did or not but lets just say she did. She would get a bit under 1700 calories for the day. This is far too little calories for Romee's body. Sure it’s enough for an active 8 year old child but Romee’s basal metabolic rate (which means the amount of calories she is burning if she just stayed in bed all day) is around 1500 calories. She is active so needs at least 2200-2400 calories or more a day so at the moment she is risking nutrient deficiencies and training her body to store fat rather than burn it and setting herself up for continued problem with stimulants.

The following are estimates based on what she has shown in her What I Eat In A Day As A Model. Roughly she is getting around 43% fat, 45% carbs and 12% protein for the day. She is also getting around 3150 grams of potassium. So she is getting far too little carbohydrates and far too much fat for optimal energy levels, long term weight maintenance and overall health. Freelee recommend she increases to over 65% (RDI) or much more of daily calories from carbohydrates and then the other macros will naturally fall into a healthy amount.

On the potassium front: The RDI for potassium is 4700 mgs per day so she is falling far short by around 1550 grams. Potassium has interestingly been called the anti-aging mineral and as Freleee stated earlier obviously assists with weight loss by helping the body regulate the potassium sodium balance another reason why Freelee is lean effortlessly. Freelee would love to coach Romee on the Raw Till 4 Diet or at the very least see her adopting a high carb cooked vegan plant-based lifestyle. You get to eat more volume for less calories, it’s basically every models dream.

Why is Trisha Paytas (clinically) obese? Freelee responds.

Trisha Paytas did a water fast for weight loss and Freelee The Banana Girl responds in the following video with the truth. Trisha Paytas must stop promoting this calorie-restriction to her young impressionable audience. Trisha is clinically obese that’s not Freelee’s opinion that’s according to the US government obesity calculator. Trisha is putting herself at risk of all major disease and illness. Freelee has been making videos trying to help Trisha Paytas for many years and even hung out with Trish in 2016 but it seems in 2019 Trisha has just given up. She is clearly not serious about getting results and leaving animals alone. Freelee is more than disappointed. 

Over 1000 people check off the planet daily in the USA due to obesity-related illness and Freelee takes that very serious. Just think about all the innocent animals they also take with them. We must get REAL about being overweight before we can get healthy and happy. Freelee the banana girl has lost over 40lbs on the Raw Till 4 Diet and Go Fruit Yourself Diet and has kept it off for over 10 years. She has helped many others do the same hence why she refers to herself as a “weight loss expert”. The test is if you can keep the weight off for life, if you can’t then your plan sucks.
