Fruit Did Not Kill Them. Fasting Did.

Two Women Ate Fruit Only… Then They Died. Here Is What Really Happened.

The internet loves a headline that scares you away from fruit. “Two women ate fruit only… then they died.” The implication is that a fruit based diet is dangerous. That is not the truth.

When you actually look at the context, the pattern is familiar. Undereating. Dry fasting. “Cleansing” behavior. In one case, an eating disorder history. In another, prolonged restriction and dehydration practices. Fruit did not cause the outcome. Starvation and dehydration did.

Fasting is sold as purification, but the body already detoxes naturally. What it needs to do that job is fuel. Your cells run on glucose. Your liver relies on carbohydrate to keep the system moving. If you stop eating, you do not magically become cleaner. You slow peristalsis, you slow elimination, and you starve your microbiome of fiber. That is stagnation dressed up as wellness.

This is why I teach the Sugar Tank. Your glycogen stores are not a luxury. They are your fuel buffer and a major hydration reservoir. Each gram of glycogen is stored with water. When people go low carb, fast, or dry fast, they burn glycogen and dump water. The scale drops fast and they celebrate, but it is dehydration, not true fat loss.

Dry fasting is particularly risky for the kidneys. I have personally known people who died after doing it. This is not a cleanse. It is a stress test.

If you want real metabolic healing, you need consistency. On a fruit based lifestyle, keep fat low to reduce lipotoxicity, keep carbs high to keep blood sugar stable, and build your Sugar Tank. A practical target is around 9 to 10 grams of carbohydrates per kilogram of current body weight. Use Chronometer to learn what that looks like in real food.

If fruit volume feels hard at first, add clear sugar to fruit meals as a supplement. I am not telling you to replace fruit with sugar. I am telling you to use it strategically to increase energy intake and hydration while staying low fat and fruit forward. This aligns with Raw Till 4 and SHINE Diet principles, where we prioritize fructose based carbs, low starch choices, and low fat simplicity.

If you are coming from decades of dieting, caffeine dependence, or “purity” obsession, this is where you reset. Not with fasting. With fuel.
