Why I Add White Sugar and Still Stay Lean at 45
Author: Freelee | thebananagirl.com
I have been on a fruit based diet for over 18 years. I came from bulimia, anorexia, drug use and terrible digestion. I lost 40 pounds and have maintained a lean body for decades.
I eat around 2500 calories per day. I move consistently. I sleep properly. I do not starve.
The Sugar Controversy
Yes, I add white sugar.
Sucrose splits into glucose and fructose. Glucose fuels every cell. Fructose replenishes liver glycogen. When fat intake is low, around 5 percent of calories, sugar is metabolically clean and supports stable energy.
The brain is a Sugar Diva. Though only about 2 percent of body weight, it can demand up to 25 percent of daily calories. Running primarily on fat and protein forces stress pathways like gluconeogenesis.
Is White Sugar Bleached?
White sugar crystals are naturally clear. They are filtered and crystallized, not bleached. Organic and beet sugars are widely available without bone char processing.
Sugar, Skin and Inflammation
Many blame sugar for acne and aging. In reality, high fat diets create lipotoxicity, interfering with glucose uptake. Lowering fat improves insulin sensitivity and circulation.
Sugar binds water, enhancing cellular hydration. Combined with a fruit based diet, this can support plumper skin and better warmth and circulation.
My Advice
Do not fear sugar.
Be patient with weight changes.
Focus on metabolic healing, not scale obsession.
